Hello Friends and a very happy new year 2013. Hope all of you have wished that this year brings with it all the good health and prosperity to you and your family.
Talking about good health since for a last couple of weeks there was an avalanche of party and sumptuous food so thought to go easy in the beginning of the year so that we give our tummy a well-deserved break. Trust me it will thank you for being so considerate. So , posting this raita dish as an opening recipe for this year. Needless to say that this is a very healthy. Cheers!
Ingredients:
1 cup Green Moong dal
2 cups Yogurt
1 Tomato
1 Onion, chopped finely( optional)
1-2 green chilli, chopped
1/2 Cucumber (grated)
Sugar and Salt to taste
For tempering:
1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
Few curry leaves
Method:
Wash and soak the moong dal in water overnight. Drain out the excess water and by now you will have nice swelled beans, now wrap with a small clean cloth and keep in a big glass jar. Place this glass jar on the warmest place of your kitchen. After 7-8 hours your sprouted moong dal will be ready !!
Whisk the yogurt well with salt and sugar. Sprinkle some salt over grated cucumber and let it sit for 10 minutes. Later drain and squeeze out excess water and combine chopped onion, tomato, green chilly with yogurt. Temper with chopped curry leaves and cumin seeds in very little oil.
