This November 20, NDTV Good Times organized 'Meet The Chef' session at Le Meridien, Bangalore. Model turned actor and now T.v anchor Chef Aditya Bal enlightened a huge crowd by a Live Cooking Demonstration (of the show Kachha Rasta). The concept behind Kacha Rasta is very intriguing wherein Aditya gives an insight into the less known pockets of India and identifies the famous food items. This show introduces the essence of street food. Aditya's ease with which he gets along with the local crowd is applaudible.
The stage was set for their up coming NDTV Good Times Food Awards, 3 rd December which also happens to be their 3rd successful year. So when Debasmita called me to invite, I was all smiling. Le Meridien was decked up to entertain a huge crowd and the show started bang on time.
Rising a toast to the single most important ingredient that could make or break backbone of any restaurant -The Perfect Recipe. So after cracking few jokes he made the audience go easy, explained 3 dishes that he was going to rustle up. Started with Delhi Ki Aloo Chat which was typical Delhi's street food, needed someone from the audience for tossing the potatoes with spices so my friend Valarmathi got the chance to share some light moments with him on stage. In between Chef encouraged us to have an interactive session, so the audience were throwing various questions towards him which he patiently answered.
Second dish was Doi Maach (Bengali dish) where the base of gravy was curd. In his words the curry is robust , slightly spicy because of garam masala. Last was Zaafrani Pulao (Rajasthani dish) where rice was cooked with saffron infused milk, jaggery, nuts and ghee. The aromatic smell was enough for us to go weak on our knees. So overall it was a great success. I would like to thank NDTV Good Times, the chef Aditya Bal and Debasmita for inviting us.
